Introduction

This booklet has been created to provide you with insight into a range of study skills that will benefit you during your time of study at Hereford Sixth Form College. 

  Ultimately, understanding and developing good study skills will be beneficial to those intending to go on into Higher Education, and also to those preparing to enter the job market.

Organization: 

  It plays plays a big part in getting good grades

  A weekly-plan of study and outside activities are important

  A realistic estimation of time for each subject is needed for study and for meeting course-work deadlines

  A well-planned revision timetable; and preparation for exams is a productive use of time

  Remember to study in a warm, well-lit, comfortable environment with few distractions

Commitment:

  Sustained effort over 2/3 years is needed, especially now that many subjects have coursework or projects

  Be prepared and willing to question the topic you are studying

  Effective concentration and a critical appreciation of the material are important
